Chili | And So Came the Rains...

The season had been unusual; the lack of rainclouds and the rumble they brought alongside them had brought many worries to the Veld. No rain meant a pause in nature's cycle- a missed step in its ever-turning wheel. It had become a constant thought and a stream of 'what ifs' that none could answer.
So Chili was no exception to the excitement that followed the roll of thunder.
The fenroo had been slumbering beneath some cool shade; a temporary shelter from the bright sun above. Eyes closed, warm, comfortable- drifting into a peaceful midday nap. And they might have continued to fall into a deep slumber if the rumbling sky had not stirred them awake. "Huh...?" They gave a weary yawn, eyes not yet open as they tried still to stir from midday rest.
It wasn't until the first drops fell that they opened their eyes and glanced above.
Their bright orange gaze settled on dark clouds heavy with the rains that had delayed their arrival.
The roo grinned, propping themselves up and shaking a bit and bringing their head up; the rain had begun to splatter against their nose and ears. Each second draws more droplets toward the ground below the dark clouds and for a while Chili simply enjoyed it. Cool rains were soothing and welcome against a body that had been warm and dusty; dry from their uncertain delay. "Took your time did you?" The room chuckled, standing fully now and enjoying the cool downpour.
"... I bet the others already saw the clouds," They thought idly, eyes now turning to glance toward the distant horizon. With that thought in mind they finally left their spot beneath the shade tree; excitement in their strides. If others saw what loomed above there would be plenty to celebrate soon. Dewdapple sprouts, crops renewed by the fresh water and cool air, friends and family gathering to celebrate another year in the Veld...
With a grin, Chili picked up the pace.
"Can't very well have them starting without me."
