Johnno sighed, stretching his sore bones as he felt his spine crack slightly. He was getting a tad too old to continue taking these long hikes, but something about tending to the land always brought him back.

Today, he was going to tend to The Range. He wasn’t a proper keeper of the Veld, but he knew many of them, and lent a hand wherever he could. It was good, he thought, to get out and do something good for the world.

In order to tend to The Range, he would be replanting seeds where other Fenroo cleared out areas to be ready for planting. He didn’t quite like the phrasing of it - “clearing out.” That made it seem like they were taking something away. In reality, they were preparing the space, making sure that any ashes from the fire were properly tilled into the soil, allowing it to fertilize the space.

That was just his personal opinion, though. He quietly opened his satchel, shuffling around in it for the right bags of seeds for this specific area. It was important to make sure the plants grew in the correct environments - too much rain, or too little sunlight, or any multitude of other factors would impair the growth deeply.

Once he found the correctly labeled bag, he crouched down, gently using his claws to till the dirt. He pressed each seed down into the soft soil individually, almost a little too careful with his methodology. He wasn’t in any hurry. He liked to take his time with each one - they were a living thing, after all. They would each slowly sprout, grow, and thrive.

This was his simple way of saying - you are loved. You are cared for. You may be just a seed now, but you are the future of this land. Until you are able to stand on your own, we are here to care for you.

Once his pouch was empty, he sighed softly, tucking it into his satchel once more. This was only the first of many fields he would be planting today - it was time to move on to the next one.
