Not every task kept one close to home.
While Sara's settlement consisted of traders and crafters, his mobility was focused more on traversing the Veld; they worked to follow the fog and see what the brilliant landscape could bring back into their world. Sara specifically made it his mission to map out the world; satchels of papers and pencils for creating maps, journals for detailing the structure of landmarks and other notable finds, and a telescope for following the stars when paths had since been lost to wayward travels.
He ensured his group didn't get lost if they trailed too close to the fog.
Which could be a challenge, when some were too curious for their own good.
"Sara! Are you going out past the river bend?" Gobi yelled as he ran to follow after the older roo- his lizard companion bobbing as they held onto his hair. Once the youngster caught up they glanced at the older fenroo, head tilted some. "Can I come with you? I haven't gone out that far before."
The dark brown roo perked his lop ears as much as he could when he heard the voice- only to shake his head in disagreement. "Absolutely not; this is a new location. We could get lost and I'm not being responsible for you not making it home."
"Pft, you're lying- you never get lost."
"Never say never, that's how you invite misfortune."
"Well, can I at least go with you as far as where the river branches?"
There was a pause, Gobi's question hanging in the air while Sara tried to reiterate the answer would be a no. Veld was too big for a little fenroo; Sara didn't trust the youngster wouldn't try to follow or travel further on their own. If he agreed then the smaller roo's safety would fall on him...
"Pleaseeeee?" Gobi broke the silence, giving Sara the biggest eyes they could muster.
After a moment of consideration, Sara sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose before finally waving for the younger spotted roo to follow along. He might regret this, but it was better he agree and keep the other in his sight than risk them following while hidden. "Alright, alright. Just promise me you will turn back when I tell you to, alright? If you don't do that then I'm never letting you follow me again."
Gobi had to ponder this agreement; the other would not give him long, however.
"Alright?" Sara pressed for an agreement; if the young fenroo didn't stick to it this would be his last time letting the young roo follow after.
"Ok- deal!" Gobi grinned before bolting off ahead of Sara, "Come on! I know a shortcut!" Before the older roo could say anything the spotted youngster was off and Sara had to follow quickly.
"Hey wait up!" Sara yelled but the request fell on deaf ears.
This was going to be a long mission when it came to mapping out the edge of the fog. He just knew it.
